Hi Kristi,

I wanted to say hello, and let you know how well our Lexi (Kitty x Richie) is doing. We absolutely love this dog, and can't thank you enough for bringing her into our lives! She is cute, smart, sweet, loves to retrieve, and just brings a smile to us and all who meet her.

We did a basic obedience class at 5 mo., and she did as well as, if not better than, all the other dogs in her class! And she was by far the youngest. The instructors complimented us after each class, and encouraged us to continue with obedience, and consider agility as well.

I also wanted to let you know we had her spayed this month. Our vet now does a laparoscopic spay, and she was doing so well the next day, you would never guess she had surgery.

I have enclosed a few pictures we had taken of "the girls". I hope all is well with you, and again, we thank you for our sweet Lexi. I will highly recommend you if I hear of anyone looking for a puppy.

Chad and Kristi,

I wanted to send you a few pictures of "Boomer". He's getting along well and is such a pleasure to have with us. He's eating well and although he does take a little while to settle down into his crate each time because of his excitement, he does eventually fall asleep.

He has such a good temperament and is well mannered. He and the cats are still in a bit of a "standoff", but they're warming up to him.

We're so happy to have him in our family! Thanks for all of your help.

We adopted an F1 puppy from you, almost four years ago today.
He was 16 weeks when we took him home and love that age for a puppy.

He (Buckeye) is doing VERY well and gets a lot of love, attention and compliments (we sing your praises constanly).

Hi Kristi!

Harley is an F1, adopted from you ~February @ 6mo age. Formerly known as Bunny.

She is PERFECT!!!!

I have only amazing things to say about Harley. She has become my joined-at-the-hip companion for all my outdoors activities... horseback riding, rock climbing, hiking, jogging, snowshoeing, etc. If we could fit skis on her and take her on the slopes, we would. She is excellent off-leash which is perfect for the activities I mentioned above. Also, she gets along fabulously with my boyfriend's dogs (and all other dogs), so we never have to leave her at home.

She is so smart! We have been learning tons of fun new tricks in short amounts of time. She is so obedient. It is incredibly refreshing to have a dog that comes when called and is eager to please.

One would think with all the activities I mentioned above that should would be really hyper, but she's not. After a few minutes of excitement for new people or new locations, she settles down and become quite the calm companion. She's excellent with children, and I have never seen a dog so happy to play with other dogs of any size.

I love Harley and couldn't be happier I bought a Riverbend dog.

Thank you so much for bringing this spirited friend into my heart.

Happy New Year to you and your family. It’s been ages since we have exchanged emails and I wanted to share Cooper’s Christmas photo. He had a wonderful holiday with our family and even posed with his reindeer antlers. Cooper has grown into such a handsome fellow. He passed his Canine Good Citizen test in 2011 and is now taking his second agility class which he absolutely loves. He is so smart and so loving and we are so fortunate to have him in our lives. I have shared your website with Coopers many admirers who are interested in puppies. We also have been thinking about a brother or sister for Cooper next fall so will keep checking the website for older puppies for the future. We did fall in love with Rusty who was on your portal recently and I see he has been removed so I am so hoping he has found a forever home.

Just wanted to give you an update on McIntire. He has been great---a very smart pup! We’ve taught him to ring a bell at the front door when he needs to go outside, but of course, there have still been accidents! He walks great on a leash (doesn’t pull) and is a great “comer”. He’s already learned to “sit” and “lie down”. All in all, we are so happy (and lucky) to have him in our family. Attached is our Holiday card picture with McIntire. Our friends and family from NJ (we relocated from there recently) can’t wait to meet him!

As promised here are a couple of pictures of Stella. Old coat then new coat. She did a great job at the groomer! She also did well in her PetSmart training except she just loves people so much that her wiggles were hard to tame. :) We're thinking about moving on to the intermediate level. She weighs about 52 lbs. and will be 8 mos. old on the 18th!

Hello Kristi.

Ketel is just the sweetest most affectionate boy ever. He is so good with everyone and we always get compliments where ever we go. He absolutely loves the water and the boat. He will just swim lap after lap in the lake! He also loves to rescue the kids ( please see the picture). This is his game that he will do over and over without getting tired.

He just had to have a really short haircut which was sad to see all that fluff go, but the lake tends to do a number on his coat.
We didn't include the new haircut just in case he may get embarrassed. :)

Hi Chad and Kristi, short update with a couple of pictures.

Mac is doing very well but losing his baby teeth and getting his permanent ones. Despite the many chew toys and chew sticks, he prefers slippers, shoes, and about anything that isn't up high. We are hoping this phase is short and he grows out of the chewing.

He really enjoys little kids and we have found that if we take him out in the afternoon when the busses are going by, he won't do anything but sit and watch the kids. He loves playing with our granddaughter and she keeps him busy.

He is up to 31 lbs and he has grown taller, at least a couple of inches. The pictures aren't the greatest, it was hard to get him to hold still and look at the camera. We are enjoying Mac and he is a great dog!!!

We hope you have all been well at Riverbend! We just celebrated Daisy's 1 year birthday!!! I've attached current pics.

Daisy has been doing great!!

She still can't get enough playtime!!

She loves her daily walks too, and does pretty well on the leash. She does lunge or pull to greet others, because she's just so stinkin friendly and wants to say "Hi" to everyone!!

But other than that, she's so easy going on the walks.

She's easy going in general! But a little feisty, sneaky and playful as well.

Which makes her a lot of fun!!!

Everyone comments on how well behaved Daisy is. When we travel, I have a good friend who loves to come and stay with Daisy. She sometimes asks me "When can I babysit again??" If my friend isn't available, she stays at a local dog "camp". They always give her A's on her behavior with other dogs and humans. I get the same input from groomers as well.

Daisy has grown to be a very lovable, intelligent, playful dog and we are so happy she's a part of our family!!

Hope all is well! Sorry it took me so long to get Rico's neutering documents to you. We had him done the first week of August, but we've been so busy with everything else, I haven't had a chance to sit down and send the information. A copy of the invoice is attached.

Rico's doing fantastic. He absolutely loves it downtown, especially doggy daycare - he's everyone's favorite :). He's so laid back, sweet and tolerant, yet he still has that puppy playfulness. We successfully completed an obedience class over the summer, he was the star. He's extremely smart, sometimes too smart for his own good :). I've attached a few pictures of Rico; you can see as he's been getting older, and as those legs have been stretching out! He was just to the groomer, so please excuse the short haircut (not what we had in mind), but I had to include a picture of him in his hot dog costume for Halloween. Rico absolutely loves kids, so naturally he had a blast.

We love Rico, and we can't imagine a more perfect addition to our family!

Just a quick note to thank you both for being so accommodating in keeping Freddie for us while we traveled.

After a day with him, we decided he really wasn't a "Freddie" so we re-named him. He is now Bailey and already responds to his name. He is doing well with potty training and caught on to the bell on the door very quickly - the only problem is that he rings it often just so he can go outside.

He caught his first squirrel his second day here. It got away and went up a tree and of course Bailey tried to climb the tree as well. He unzipped the cover and chewed up the foam rubber pad for his crate, but except for that he has been very good about only chewing his toys. We love that he sleeps quietly through the night because he makes our days pretty busy.

He came home from being neutered yesterday and acts as though nothing happened. I have narrowed down a list of trainers and will be calling them today to choose one and get started. He is a big boy and we need to control the jumping!! he is very smart so I am sure he will respond well.

Again - thank you. We love him already!

Hello Chad and Kristi!

I had a pretty intense doctor appointment today and, of course, Bogart went with me as my Service Dog.

While waiting for the doctors, I sat on the floor with him for comfort.

Look at this fabulous doodle from Riverbend!

His coloring is absolutely gorgeous! He turned 4 on September 26th, 2011 and he just gets better and better!

Look at the love, tenderness and compassion in those eyes!!

Bogart now not only serves me, but works as a volunteer for Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.

He also works with Autistic and Downe Syndrome children.

Everyone just LOVES him to pieces! Little children just wait for him to show up at the Hospital annex. One little boy, Kevin, had a really bad speech problem and he hated going for his therapy. BUT! He met Bogart! He looked forward to seeing him AND his speech actually was more clear and slower in Bogart's presence.

Riverbend is nothing but the BEST!!

Here are his pictures with me at the docs office today. Don't let the collar scare you. It's a Martingale and just hangs there.......no harsh treatment for my little man!!

Just thought I'd touch base and say hello to you and Chad and I hope all is going well in Ohio. Believe it or not Harry is going to be two in December and he is such a big big boy! He is 79 lbs and I have no doubt he will probably reach 80 lbs by his birthday. He gets shout outs wherever I take him about how beautiful he is - and his finest feature - is of course his big black nose! He is such a good good boy and I love him dearly!

i'm so glad he got in the wagon! he's used to standing on the lip in the back of the van and looking out the window. in the wagon he just lays there and can see everything! and no dirty nose prints on my back window :) it's the little things in life, ya know?!

Hi! Wanted to get back to you as soon as I had Syd's hips done. Her hips were excellent on the right and good on the left. She weighs 51 lbs. and as you can see from the pics she is a small sturdy girl. These pics were taken yesterday and she is in her "summer cut" with her summer bleached out facial hair.

I get her groomed about every 6 weeks to keep her short for swimming. When her hair grows out she is wavy and very thick. Her parents were Cookie and Louis. Looking forward to hearing from you! Julie

Well Kristi, I think I have managed to spoil another oneJ. She seems extremely well adjusted and happy in her new home. She loves the living room sofa and buries herself in a blanket that I put on it. She darts off to it whenever she gets the chance. She is eating well and going into her crate without crying. She sleeps all night. Only had one problem on night 2, when she pooped in the crate, but otherwise, she is doing well. Couple accidents in the house, but that is to be expected. She is extremely sweet and loves to be held. Of course, she has attached herself to me and she does not leave my side. Thanks for making this possible for usJ

Hi Kristi,

Enclosed is a picture of Lexi, but it may be too big for you to see. Not sure how to shrink it... was taken with our son's camera. She is now swimming with our labs, and easy, fun retrieving. She has a great personality, and we continue to be very happy with her.

On her last puppy visit to the vet they asked when we wanted to have her spayed. We would like to wait as long as possible without her coming into heat. Do you have any advice for us? They said her family history might give us a good idea when to schedule it.

Well they are happy as two peas in a pod. KoKo is amazing, calm, patient and a perfect match! My dad founded a company named K. K. Tool, hence the KoKo and they are doing very well.
Had first trip to vet today to get rabies shot and will get a puppy shampoo and trim on Thursday. Still challenged a little with a couple accidents a week but my dad is a bit too trusting...owner violation, not puppy problem.
We cannot say enough about how well behaved KoKo is, no jumping and sits at my dad's feet most all the time, regardless of how many people are in the room.

Having a hard time getting Remy to stand still to have his picture taken.

This one I took this morning after coming home from the Vet. I went in to weigh him. He weighed in at 32.4 lbs. He is teething heavily. Consistantly up to 4 cups a day.

Doing great in obedience school. Signed up for the intermediate obedience class, which starts later in the month. He told me to say hi to you both. When I get better pictures I will send them on for your gallery.

Gauge, our sweet little boy
Hi Chad and Kristi,

Nate and I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know what a wonderful addition Gauge been been to our lives. It's hard to believe that he turned a year old at the beginning of July! He's such a loving, cuddly, bright, adventurous, independent, and even mischievous little guy. Gauge loves everyone--people and dogs alike. I regularly have children in our neighborhood ask to pet him when we're on our daily walk. He's very sweet and gentle with the kids in spite of his excitement at making new friends. One little girl has dubbed him a "labradoodle poodle"--close enough, right?

Gauge with our next door neighbors' dog, Harley, his best buddy.

Gauge visits Lake Michigan for the first time.

Gauge loves Nate's parents' labradoodle, Goldie. They played all day on the farm.

We have found a great doggy daycare that he absolutely loves. He can't get out the door and into the car fast enough on the days I take him. Last time he went, the staff told me he played all day with two other labradoodles. We're planning to take him through the next level of obedience classes and later enroll him in an agility class. It's amazing how graceful and swift labradoodles are! Both Nate and I sing this breed's praises and yours as well. We're so grateful to have such a sweet little canine companion to love.

Hi Chad and Kristi!

I have been meaning to do this for, well - over a month. :D But I finally found a nice chunk of time.

Banjo and I participated in our first county dog show - one of many more to come! The level that we were in didn't have many people. There were two of us human/doggy teams in rally, and just Banjo and I in showmanship. Banjo and I got first place in Rally and in Showmanship!! I didn't think that we would get first in rally, because the bright orange cones and all the people and dogs seemed to outdo the hotdogs I had for a lure. :) But we did! We won by 2 points! :D

I watched the video we took, and we actually looked pretty good! And of course, with Showmanship, we were kind of forced into first place. But for our first year, and especially for Banjo being 11 months old, I think we did excellent! I am so proud of my Banjo. :)

I am still working on achieving the goal of certifying him as a therapy dog, but I have decided to wait another year to get some more of his puppiness out! I love the puppiness, but I don't know how everyone else would! :)

On August 9th, Banjo turned one! He now weighs 66 pounds. We celebrated Banjo style: Playing lots, and lots, and LOTS of fetch!! (Outside of course, because we can feel the wind in our fur. ;) Other than that, we didn't do anything special. But everyday I have with Banjo is special, and I think if he could talk, he would agree. :)

He hasn't had an accident in months, but still likes to get me up at 6:30! I think he's just a morning dog. Unfortunately for me, I am not a morning person. But it is nice having my own alarm clock so I don't oversleep. :)

Banjo never fails to make us laugh throughout the day with his klutzy, innocent, loving, and loyal spirit. The thing I look forward to the most upon arriving home is a big Banjo hug. They can brighten up any day! Thanks for a tremendous doodle!

We celebrated Mika's 3rd Birthday on Sunday, August 28th with a trip to the lake. She loves being in the water and swimming! She even relaxed on the foam noodles for awhile! Our 1 1/2 year old son is her favorite buddy and those two are always up to something :)

    Lily is doing well. She is very calm and low key- super sweet. We love her so much!
   Her coat looks like it will have just enough wave, and hopefully won't mat too much. She has been getting brown hair on her legs, and muzzle and some on her back. Maybe she will look like Trisha when she is older.
   We went to Kentucky in July and Lily and Hudson came along and stayed in the hotel with us. She handled it well and it was great for socialization-tons of people, elevators, all kinds of new things.
She finished puppy class at Pet Smart and we will start another class soon.

she was ready to take on a male sea lion the other day…it was all i could do to keep her in the kayak…

we cannot keep her out of the water when she gets near the bay or the beach…she chases frisbees and balls in the water…jumps off docks…she also pool swims, but definitely prefers open water….she has a great temperament and is very very intelligent….

just thought i'd share this dress up picture of tagger. the girls decided against the bride and went with cleopatra...tagger, the new queen of the nile. poor boy, he's such a good sport. he'll definitely be trick-or-treating with us this year. i think we may make him a spider bc he's got those long legs! :)

we've had some beautiful am walks at blandy. they have a ginko grove there and it was just amazing this am. of course the beauty of the landscape is lost on tagger...he's just after his whistle ball! i'll try and get some pics of him out there. i feel so lucky to have such a nice place to let him run!

Hi Kristi!

Just wanted to check in and tell you how wonderful Dexter is doing. He is so smart and sweet! He had a little ear infection when we got home but that has cleared up and he is feeling much better and is much more comfortable. We are 99% potty trained and doing great with not chewing. He is so well behaved. He loves his crate and rarely protests. As of last monday he weighed 15.33 lbs so he is growing like a weed.

Here is your boy at rest on the marble floor in front of our fireplace in the master bedroom. All tired after I just finished walking him in the neighborhood. We are both pooped. The heat is a real killer. I wish it would rain so it would cool off.
BTW he is doing great. His first obedience class yesterday and i know he is going to do great. He is almost already sitting on command. Then he gets a treat.
You were so right he is an absolute love, although stubborn at times we all adore him and he seems to be happy.

It is Ivy's stuffed hippopotamus she brought home from your house 1 and a half years ago.
Even though I have washed it many times, it is filthy, but Ivy loves it all the more.
We call it Dirty Hippopotamus.

Thought you would like to see this. We walk the dogs for an hour each morning and afternoon. This is a stream that goes by the path we go on through the woods. He likes jumping in it and then lays right down in the water.

"Frankie" is great - he has completed puppy training and we start in Sept. with obedience.

He came to us potty trained, walks beautifully on the leash (and never pulls) and is crate trained. All gifts from you to us and we thank you. He has learned to "sit", "down" and "stay" is getting better each day and he has been trained with the invisible fence.

Lauderdale with Bella, our darling girl. (Richie and Daze). She is an
absolute darling, enthusiastic, exactly as you said, "quiet girl", yet
totally communicative, super smart and playful. We have just gone
through an incredible year where our oldest son and his wife gave
birth to their first- a granddaughter- Angelina, our youngest and his
wife are pregnant with twin boys, and Bruce's Mom just passed away
after a horrible time with Advanced Parkinson's. But, Bella- through
all of it, has been our lifesaver. (Never a therapy dog- due to our
family commitments, but Obedience Trained and always a source of
comfort for us.)

We just finished a series of training classes with the Ebbrechts...I think Baxter and Ringo were more into playing than learning, but once they settled down and got focused everyone did well!

I know this sounds like a typical "Mom thing" to say, but Ringo is very smart and eager to learn and please!Notice the one he was working on his reading skills?!

Ringo truly has been a wonderful addition to our family and we thank you for breeding such awesome dogs!

He is now certified!

Bogey will continue his training in specific tasks and has already accomplished many skills.

Bogey still has "puppy" moments but is maturing at a good speed.

Cedric (retired service dog) took Bogey to the van to go to his test.

Hi Kristi and Chad,

I've been meaning to email you and I've just been too busy with our new puppy. The kids named him Cooper and they were absolutely speechless when he arrived at their birthday party on Sunday. Cooper was as good as gold old day at the party as well as on our trip home. Our trip back took 5 hours instead of 3 because of traffic and rain. The only thing he did was to dirty in his crate not 5 minutes after we left Chad. We pulled over and got him and the crate cleaned up and he was good to go and not one peep all the way home.

He is a very sweet puppy. Very mellow. Our kids and everyone who meets him is in love immediately.

Thank you again. Enjoy the pictures of Cooper and we will keep in touch. He went to the vet today and all is well. He is already 15 pounds.

Here is a current picture of Daisy at 6 months! Can't believe how much she has grown! She was spayed on May 1st and weighed in at 43 lbs!

Daisy is really doing great! She loves people and other dogs. Every time we walk she goes crazy wanting to say "Hi!" to anyone we meet. One gentleman walking his dog saw us coming and said, "That's has to be the happiest looking dog I've ever seen!"

Daisy's number one passion in life is to play! She will not eat breakfast before a little play session first! Her current favorite toy is a soft fuzzy frisbee that squeaks. She is so great at catch!!

In honor of her 6 month birthday my daughter and I made Snickerdoodles that look like Daisy. I've attached a picture. (Of course we didn't give Daisy any but she loved modeling for us!)

I hope this email finds you well! I wanted to send you a brief update on Dougal for his first birthday! Dougal is doing really well--he's such a happy boy and we're having lots of fun together. We start our second round of competitive obedience classes this weekend. He is doing really well in class, which we use more for fun and bonding time than anything else. We'll see how far we get, but it's possible we might try a competition or two after a few more courses. His leash manners still aren't the greatest (particularly when he knows he's going to the park!) but he's becoming a great runner and we jog together a few times a week. I'm hoping to get him up to the cottage in a few months to try our hand at swimming.

He's certainly not adverse to dirty puddles, though he could do without the rain! As you can see from the pictures, his favorite ball is never far from his side, unless he has dumped it in my lap to have me throw it--he's an obsessive retriever (but only his own ball, nobody else's will do!)

Dougal had his first haircut in March. I am pretty sure I was more horrified by it than he was, though it's grown out a bit and I think he's pretty cute. His coat is incredibly curly--I don't think he'll ever have the abominable snowman look again, which is probably for the best (at least in terms of grooming!). He'll certainly be more comfortable when D.C.'s August temperatures hit.

The doodle popularity in my neighborhood is skyrocketing and many of Dougal's bestfriends are Doodles, which makes for a pretty funny sight! I couldn't ask for a better guy and am so greatful to have him in my life.

Hello!

I just wanted to let you know that we love Oscar soooo much! He is just wonderful. We have been having alot of fun with him. He loves to be around us, whether we are inside or out. Our other doggie, Sophie, and our cat had some reservations at first, but they are all getting along well now. Oscar likes to help us bring Sophie for walks!

He has finished up all his shots and he is growing like a weed. Last week he weighed in at 26 pounds! The vet said he is very healthy and is doing fine.

He has playdates at least once or twice a week and he gets along well with all other dogs he meets. He starts puppy training classes on Saturday.

I have included some photos of Oscar'.

Some are of his first trip to the ocean and you'll see that he loved playing in the sand and water.

the kids and i just checked your site...boy, you must be busy with puppies! and cute ones too! i had to share this. tagger, as you know, is a great fetching dog. we are thrilled that he fetches as we've been wanting a fetcher for some time. my nine-year-old daughter had been trying to get her boston terrier, ellie, to fetch pretty much from 10 weeks old...no go. now that we have tagger fetching, she is now fetching right along side of him. really amazing as she's 3.5 yrs and never showed the slightest interest. today, my little brat boston terrier was out with us and decided for the first time EVER to do anything DOG-like and join in on the fetching fun. it's totally bizarre! she tries so hard to convince us she's human all the time that this was totally unexpected. not to be out done...my son's ENGLISH BULLDOG (you gotta picture that for a minute)--English Bulldog is now also joining in on the fetch session. i wish i'd had a camera to get the pic of the doodle leaping like a butterfly into the air, followed by a very terrier bt and a not so doggy bt and then the little slug of a bulldog too...it was absolutely too funny. and i think all bc tagger fetches! he was so hot and tired he kept dropping his ball into the bucket of water and dunking his whole head under to retrieve it. he's been a good influence on them to say the least.

the two younger girls and i tried very hard to get a good pic of the dogs fetching together. it was not easy. they go after the ball so fast! it's hot here today--about 80--so only tagger was really motivated. then they played "drop the ball in the water bucket" for a while before coming in and having some freezie pups...don't know if you've made those but they're flavored icecubes shaped like bones for dogs. they LOVE them when they get hot. i was going to break out the baby pool but i'm on a time crunch today. hope you enjoy the photos. my brat bt was not "into it" today. she stayed inside as she usually does. the bulldog generally sat in their way so they were tripping over him. he makes a great foot stool :) mb

It has been very busy around here but I wanted to give you a quick update. Bogey is progressing very well in his training. We are hoping he will be certified at the end of May. He is carrying items, retrieves specific items and is learning to respond to spinal cord seizures. Bogey and Cedric (retired service dog) are doing wonderfully.

Hi Chad and Kristi,

Just wanted to update you on Spike, he is 16 weeks now and doing great ! He is growing fast, last weight was 12.5 pounds a week ago, seems to be bigger every day ! Spike is such a smart dog, he has learnt ‘sit’ ‘stay’ ‘lay down’ ‘paw’ so far. His favorite things to do are to eat , chase rabbits and birds, go for walks around the neighborhood and park, run for the ball, chase bubbles blown by the children, and have lots of cuddles and belly rubs.

He is 95 % house trained, he rings the jingle bells on the back door to go outside and keeps his crate nice and clean all night now.

We want to thank you for all of your support and advice throughout our journey to choose Spike and during the settling in period after he arrived here. He is a wonderful dog and we love him very much !

SOOOOOO Sorry....it has been so long. We have many pictures of Parker, but

Hi Kristi,

We just wanted to let you know that Molly is getting spayed this Friday. It’s probably not much of a birthday present for a 6 month old (born October 22^nd).

Do you need something from the vet confirming that she got spayed?

We started her at puppy training at a nearby PetSmart a couple weeks ago. Overall she is doing pretty well, but still gets that wild puppy streak in her where she wants to tear through the house. Hopefully getting spayed might calm her down just a bit.

We keep looking at your litters as they arrive and have been looking at the upcoming litters. If you have any medium size black little girls in the pipeline like Molly, we might be interested in adding to our family. We love her wavy coat so that would be ideal. Really don’t want to have to deal with having to brush out a coat constantly so a true multi-gen Labradoodle probably wouldn’t be for us.

I have forwarded you some baby pictures.

Just wanted to update you on Bently. He is over 32Lbs and has been doing well. Only issues are nipping and of course jumping up but other than that he walk well on the leash he love to play and cuddle. He has had several baths but I think I will take him to the groom shop soon to get him a slight haircut. His coat is fairly easy to comb though. It is almost time to get him nuetured. I think the vet said in about 6 weeks does than sound about right? He loves my yellow lab Molley and they have become great buddies. He gets along great with other dogs.

So sorry we haven't written or sent pictures since Simba came to live with us. It's been a hectic, but wonderful adjustment having a "toddler" after so many years. Simba is a busy, sweet, and very smart puppy. Her potty training is pretty well completed except for the occasional accident when the weather (high winds) keeps her in. She hates the winds we've gotten this Spring.

Other training is going pretty well: she sits, stays, and heels on the leash most of the time. Off the furniture is our newest challenge; she suddenly decided the sofa is hers. She'll obey "off," but when we're not looking, she'll dash back on. Very puppy-ish. We love her personality as does everyone who meets her. She's a fun dog. I am attaching a few snapshots. My camera didn't capture the active, fun shots. It also missed her standing on a little footstool (all 4 feet planted like a trained seal). She's grown so much it's getting hard for her to do that now. You can see by her pictures that she is much taller and she weighs about 12-13 pounds at 4 months. How does that compare with her litter mates?

All in all, this is a successful adoption. Thank you for providing a healthy, well-adjusted addition to our family.

This is newspaper article written about one of our families that take their Boston and their Labradoodle to visit people in hospitals and nursing homes.

ZANESVILLE -- Bogey jumped up on the bed beside Richard Ramsey at Genesis Bethesda Hospital and laid down with what looked like a smile spreading across his black and white face.
Bogey, a 6-year-old Boston terrier, visits patients at local hospitals and rehabilitation centers in the area with his owner, Lois Gruenebaum, and Miley, a 5-year-old Labradoodle.
The therapy dogs bring a lot of comfort and joy to patients that are staying at hospitals, in Hospice or rehab centers for the past seven years, said Gruenebaum.
Gruenebaum, 60, of Zanesville, also enjoys the time, always smiling and ready with treats for the dogs and words of comfort for the patients.
Ramsey enjoyed the break from the therapy he was getting on his leg and shoulder. Ramsey, of Hanover, fell off a oil tank a month ago and broke his leg, dislocated his shoulder and had numerous facial injuries.
"He's a good dog," Ramsey said. "He makes me miss my dog, Maggie."
Derek Noll, an occupational therapist at the hospital, said Bogey and Miley really help the patients from not getting depressed.
"Some patients spend all day working on difficult life lessons and relearning how to do a lot of things," Noll said. "The dogs give them a break and a chance to catch their breath and relax a little."
Gruenebaum said she started taking her dogs on visits to patients because she wanted to help.
"They're really wonderful with the kids that are in the hospital," Gruenebaum said. "It really brightens patients' days when the dogs come to visit. I've been doing this for a few years and started with a great dog, a pug named Lucy, who is now gone."
Gruenebaum works hard with her dogs so they can walk easily through hospital corridors, into rooms and visit with patients without fear of them becoming nervous or anxious.
Bogey is a natural and obviously loves to do tricks. He has quite an assortment he's accomplished at -- playing dead, bowing, rolling over, shaking hands and, while not a trick, loves to ride with a patient in a wheelchair.
Charles Bruce, of St. Louisville, got a visit from Gruenebaum and the two dogs, and while it made him smile, it also made him think of his cat, Tom.
Bruce, who is recovering from knee surgery, said he loved having the dogs come visit.
"If you like animals, it's a real treat," Bruce said.
Gruenebaum, who for 20 years took customers on gambling junkets to Las Vegas and out of the country, said doing volunteer work is extremely rewarding.
"I think when I take the dogs to see the kids that really gets to me," Gruenebaum said. "The kids get a big kick out of seeing them. They take the dogs for walks down the halls and play with them. It really takes their minds off why they're here."
One of the other volunteers at the hospital, Pat Dusenbery, said she loves to see the patients with Gruenebaum and the dogs.
"The visits really keep the patients calm," Dusenbery said. "Especially the children. Those visits with Bogey and Miley keeps the anxiety of being here down. I think the dogs are wonderful."

Here's more photos (attached above) of my own giant dog, CODY, just last week when it was still winter around here.

He's also turning into a real helper and a good service dog. I slipped on some black ice last week and wound up flat on my back in the driveway. Cody rushed to my side and waited for me to turn over to my hands & knees, and then he positioned himself along-side me, and stood while I leaned on his shoulder to pull myself up. What a perceptive dog! I guess the Good Lord knew what he was doing when he made Cody grow to this size!!

Almost 1 yr ago we purchased “Scout” which we renamed Cooper. I attached a couple of pictures for you to see. He is a doll – the pictures do not do him justice.

Dear Kristi......
Daisy is doing great! She has a wonderful
laid back attitude and a very sweet disposition! I joke that she's smarter than
I am.....probably is!! She's not quite 5 months old,
but, she loves going for long walks, rides in the car, and is great
at letting me groom her.....That coat of hers is fabulous and she likes
having it brushed!! She is the Queen of the house, after all!!! I can't wait to
see how she changes as she grows!!
